Owner/Founder/Stylist
KEVIN ADAMSON
One Saturday morning Kevin Adamson needed a haircut. As he sat in the chair and watched the barber cut and shave his hair with intense focus and precision, Kevin grew intrigued. He was currently working in a factory and not exactly loving it. With a passion for creativity, a flair for fashion, and a thirst for one-on-one interaction, Kevin decided that factory work was not going to cut it. He enrolled in the Harrisburg Barber School the following week.

After graduating and receiving his PA state Barber and Cosmetology licenses, Kevin started his career at The Barbers where he spent five years honing his cutting and styling skills. Later he spent time at Stonybrook Barber Shop, Accardo & Co. and The Zinger Guarantee before opening and running his own salon, Kevin’s Hair Studio, for six years. The timing wasn’t right, so he closed the shop to go to Heritage Hair Design, then moved to Salon Down Under where he stayed for several years before opening the doors to The Guest House Salon in 2001. Together, Kevin and his wife Karen have created an atmosphere that will often be imitated, but never duplicated. The salon is truly a work of art. It houses a total of 13 stylists’ stations nestled throughout three historic structures sprawled across a charming piece of farmland in Hellam, PA. Simply moseying around the Instagram-worthy property makes you feel like you’ve been swept away to a quaint European garden complete with cobblestone walkways, unique florals and a “sit back and stay awhile” approach.

Perhaps The Guest House Salon’s success can be attributed in part to the importance Kevin has placed on continuing education. He has attended the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London and San Francisco, Toni & Guy in Pittsburgh, the Aveda Institute in Minnesota, and countless seminars at The Gallery Raylon Corporaton in Reading, PA. Kevin loves teaching almost as much as he loves doing hair, therefore he has taught several students in the field at local colleges and high schools as well as The Gallery Raylon Corporation. He is trained in several color lines including Redken, Wella and Loreal. His education will never be complete as Kevin is truly an enthusiast for life, learning and always staying busy.

When he is not in the salon, you can find Kevin woodworking, cycling, or at local venues banging on the drums.
Amongst the property we have three beautiful buildings where our artists are stationed to provide hair, nail and other cosmetic services.
